Peter is licensed to guide in a very large portion of Alaska Yukon. This represents unit 17, 19 and 6 with access to state lands. Given the different Micro Ecosystems, Barela’s Alaskan Outfitters can offer a wide range of Trophy Quality animals for our clients to hunt. You will have a professional guide, licensed in the State of Alaska, with you at all times. We are true believers in fair chase hunting and enjoying the beautiful creatures God put here for our management.
Brown Bears – We are fortunate to be hunting an area that has produced exceptionally large bears. They grow big because there is an enormous amount of food, salmon, blue berries, and other rich foods to consume each year. These bears also have fantastic genetics, just like moose which are also very large in this area. It is not uncommon to harvest a 10-footer in our hunting area. We stalk these giants from April to June and then from September through October.
The Alaskan moose is truly the largest of all moose species. The area we hunt has the genetics for world class trophies, and the opportunities are high to harvest an animal in the 60″ plus and higher range.
Black bears are an animal that you can hunt anywhere in North America. What makes Alaskan Prince William Sound black bears different is the quality of their coats. I have not experienced anywhere, even the interior, the unique hide of the bears we hunt. With the abundant food, berries and great genetics, we average 6 to 6.5 foot and occasionally see a 7.5 footer.
Mountain Goats are an animal that I believe are truly underrated. The beauty in these magnificent creatures is absolutely breathtaking. They are quite the challenge and live in breath taking beauty. We work hard to harvest Billies 8.5″or larger, averaging 9-9.5 category.
Stalking huge herds of Caribou the Alaskan wild is a real thrill. Let us know if you are interested in such a hunt and we will add you to the list.
One of the great things about hunting bears in Alaska is that they tend to congregate around water that has plenty of fish. Bring your fishing rod and we will spend an afternoon or two wetting a line. Our waters have an abundance of Silver Salmon and big Rainbow Trout.
