Big Game Hunting in Patagonia
Water Buffalo, Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Axis Deer, Blackbuck and Wild Boar
Red Stag Patagonia is proud to offer a hunting program on one of the best red stag preserves in South America: Red Stag Tupungato. Owned by one of the oldest families in Mendoza province, your hosts have been breeding and managing red stag herds for the last 30 years. By interbreeding local stock with some of the very best bloodlines from Europe and New Zealand, they have today some of the biggest and healthiest herds in the country.
Red Stag Patagonia operates fine big game lodges in two countries, Argentina and Chile, where each lodge raises the bar for the great big game hunt, accommodations, and regional services. In addition, all of our well-appointed outposts have been uniquely designed to complement the setting in which they are located.
Red Stag Junin is located within a 100,000-acre family owned estancia in the high desert foothills of the Andes, Argentina. Situated in the province of Neuquen, approximately 40 miles southeast of San Martin de Los Andes, the ranch is a 2hr drive from Bariloche and San Martin airports.
Red Stag Trophy Hunts in Argentina
The hunting season begins March 1st and ends in mid-June, with the optimal period for roaring red stags lasting through the month of March and April. With so much riding on a hunt, you need to consider your options carefully–and work with a guide and outfitter that cares as much about your success as you do. Since red deer were introduced into Argentina more than a hundred years ago, they have flourished throughout many ranges in the country. Argentina has some of the world’s best free-range red stag hunting in the northwestern regions of Patagonia. The remoteness, endless land, huge ranches, friendly people and abundance of wild game, puts the country as unique hunting destination. Not all stag hunts are created equal. It is important to choose the right outfitter.
Red Stag Trophy Hunts in Chile
Our Chilean program, Red Stag Chile, offers a truly unique opportunity to hunt for the enormous Red Stag that roams this part of the Central Valley of Chile. The area combines abundant food, great cover and more than 80 years of selective herd management, producing some of the biggest wild stags in the world. Indeed, over the years many have found the top of the record books. The Stags are completely wild and all hunts are fair chase on an unfenced ranch. No more than 6 mature stags are harvested each year, so availability for these hunts is extremely limited.

Hunting Lodges in Patagonia
At each lodge, our commitment is the same. We work tirelessly before, during, and after the season to offer our guests an authentic and rewarding experience. We pay attention to the smallest details—from being on time every time to the quality of our wines, to the type of vehicles we choose. Our Argentine big game lodges host only a limited number of guests each week, again ensuring great service and plenty of “elbow room” in the lodge and on the field.

Hunting Lodges in Chile
Chile is renowned for its beauty and natural resources. In fact, in the 1920s the country put into operation one of the finest national park systems in the world. If you’re really thirsting for adventure, you can visit our Argentine lodges in the same trip—no flights required, just a beautiful drive over the Andes.
Experienced guides, all of whom are members of the same family and have an intimate knowledge of the local terrain, accompany each hunter. Hunts consist of stalking and glassing the valleys. The terrain includes soft, rolling hills and wheat fields interspersed with thick stands of dark timber. Open fields and meadows make it easy to move around. There is nothing more exciting than hearing these huge bulls roaring at close range through the early morning mist.
Our base is a beautifully located family estancia, where the owners themselves will attend to small groups of guests. The lodge, built from local stone and wood, overlooks adjacent mountains and the main hunting grounds. In the evening guests will enjoy traditional asados (bbq) and delicious home cooked meals, complemented by the finest Chilean wines.
