If your dream is to hunt Colorado high country, you have found your dream area. We are in the heart of aspen, spruce and alpine park country, big canyons and breathtaking high country beauty in all directions. Our median elevation is 8700 feet and go up to 10,000 feet. This ranch is the epitome of elk country and have a native herd that continually produces trophy animals year after year.

We have a true high mountain ranch located on the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River at the elevation ranging from 8700-10,000 feet. You would be hard pressed to find a more scenic Trophy Elk Ranch anywhere in the world. The natural elk habitat on the ranch is spruce and aspen covered slopes with open alpine parks. Homestead Ranch is just a stone’s throw from the Black Canyon National Park.

Our greatest attribute to our hunting operation is our location. We are located on the north rim of the Black Canyon, off of Colorado HWY 92 between Crawford Colorado and the Morrow Point Dam of Blue Mesa Reservoir. We are surrounded by 12,000 to 14,000 foot mountains. The San Juan range on our south and the Collegiate Range to the east and the West Elk mountains are north and west of the ranch.

How long does an Elk Hunt Last?

Hunts usually last three days. If you are successful on your first or second day there is also hiking, fishing and sight-seeing.

Elk Meat Hunts

Welcome to Elk meat. Elk meat is the alternative to other protein meat sources. If you’ve never tasted Elk meat before, you are in for a wonderful treat. When you purchase our Elk meat, you will be surprised how tender and flavorful the different cuts of meat provide. beef, low in fat and cholesterol and has a higher content of protein than beef or chicken. Our Elk graze on naturally grown mountain grass, plants, free of steroids, and hormones. Our Elk are free of all diseases. Our Elk thrive on thousands of mountain acres in a stress free environment with little or no pressure. At Homestead Ranch our Elk meat is a dark red and very dense and we offer these healthy, flavorful cuts of filet, ribeye, steak, tenderloin, and hamburger at a below market price. We sell our elk meat at the price of $4.25 per pound. Our elk meat is sold by the quarter, half or whole carcass. We have limited quantities, call for availability. What is the cost of an Elk Hunt in Colorado?

The price of the hunts depend on the size of the bull. All bulls are scored by the Safari Club International criteria.

ALL packages include:
One bull elk, three days and three nights, lodging, meals, guide fee, capping of your animal, and the in field processing.

NO packages include:
Tip, alcohol purchases, processing of meat, taxidermy, or other charges not included in the above mention items. Non- hunters are $200.00 per day, which includes room and board.

Platinum Package=$12,500 The prices of the hunt depend on the size of the bull. All bulls are scored by the Safari Club International criteria.

Gold Package=$10,500

Silver Package=$8,500

Bronze Package=$6,500

Cow Hunts=$2,000 Fully guided, lodging and food included.

 

Elk Guest and Hunting Lodge in Colorado

Your accommodations are first class with private rooms available in our beautiful lodge. The lodge is a modern 10,000 square foot building, with a large dining room, custom built bar with a big screen television and other wonderful amenities. Learn more about our lodge and accommodations.

Homestead Ranch, located at 9200 feet, is near Crawford, Colorado. The ranch sits on 3000 plus acres with spectacular views of surrounding mountains in western Colorado. You will be in some of the most beautiful country in Colorado. Scenic mountain terrain with spruce, aspen, and sagebrush covered slopes with open alpine parks. There is nothing like hearing the bugle of bull elk outside your lodge bedroom. Taking care of our guests is a way of life to us, and we take that experience very seriously. We are committed to making your stay an experience of a lifetime.

Day 1–Normally, on the first day when you arrive and get settled in, our guides take you out to look at the elk and get a feel for what your particular interests are. The guides can help you decide on the size of the bull that’s right for you. Usually, your not going to shoot that day, but it’s not out of the question and hunters have done so in the past.

Day 2 & 3–We use four-wheel drive vehicles, ATV’s and walking for transportation around the ranch. Our guides design the hunt around your needs. You will hunt with one or more guides that know these animals and the mountains. Your guide will get you into position to shoot your trophy elk.

Day 4+–Most hunts usually last three days, but if you are staying for additional days there is plenty more to do. Including hiking, fishing, and sight-seeing.
