Sika hunting in Ireland differs from hunting in other European countries. Here in Ireland, Sika deer are wild animals that live in the harsh Irish countryside. The Sika deer is called the black phantom because of its shyness. Sika deer in Co. Cork and Kerry lives in dense forests and tend to come out in the early morning and late evening. Rutting season is the best time to hunt, when the deer are more active.
Hunting in Ireland
Hunting in Ireland can be challenging and a good level of fitness is an advantage.
We will of course adapt the hunt to suit everyone’s ability. If, for example, someone has limited mobility or a disability of some kind, we will find a solution.

We hunt on 30 – 40,000 acres of land, with a mixture of old and new forests. We have 4 professional guides who are very familiar with the animals and terrain in Cork and Kerry. They will look after individual hunters according to their ability and requirements.
They will do everything to get the best trophies for their hunters.
There is also the possibility to hunt wild goat in the mountains near the coast. That is a very exciting and challenging hunt. Our stalkers will ensure that each hunter has a good experience and most likely bring home a great trophy.
It is also possible to hunt foxes and rabbits by night. That can be booked in advance or by agreement locally in Ireland.
The area:
County Kerry and West Cork is a famous tourist area in Ireland. This is because of its beautiful mountains, lakes and traditional little towns. We stay in a 3 room “Bed and Breakfast” in Kenmare which is a very cozy town, set between the mountains and the sea in Kenmare Bay.
Live music is played most evenings in the traditional Irish pubs.
Combined hunt and family holiday is a good possibility.
Kenmare are 1.5 hours’ drive from Cork airport and 4.5 hours from Dublin airport.

Professional stalkers take care of the hunters while hunting in the beautiful landscape with mountains, forest and rough farmland.

Taxidermy
• Boiling of skull locally Sika 60 Euro / Goat 85 Euro
• Skinning of cape ready for shoulder mount - Sika/Goat 10 Euro
• Delivery of trophy to taxidermy for shoulder mount 15 Euro
• Shoulder mounting– Sika 490 Euro / Goat 530 Euro. (price known 2017) Deposit of 200 euro to be paid locally.
• Split and salting ready for shipping 150 Euro
• All taxidermy work/shipment and payment to be agreed directly with Kurt Ecker the local Taxidermy.
• Shipping of trophies in a box with weight up to 20 kg including box and insurance currently 110 Euro
• Boiling of trophy will be done locally and will be send and packing and postage will be charged.
All extra and extra culled deer to be paid in cash while in Ireland.
