Nhacainga is a wildlife area that has been developed over the last 17 years within the Coutada 9 area in the Manica Province of Mozambique. The hunting in Nhacainga is very exciting and offers a wide variety of species and habitats.
The area is renowned for its Big 4 hunting as well as a huge variety and abundance of plains game. Prior to the civil war, the Coutada was operated by Safrique and was renowned for its trophy Lion and Buffalo hunting. Today, the hunting is still great for hunting Elephant, Lion, Buffalo and common plains game.
There is a quota of Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Red Duiker, Oribi, Reedbuck and Linvingston’s Suni. Sable and Nyala are plentiful and make a great safari for clients who wish to target these species.
The main hunting camps in this area are the Tandikwe Camp and the Njiri Eco Camp. There is a wide diversity of habitats including open acacia woodland, mopane woodland, thick riverine vegetation and broken granite outcrops.
Tandikwe camp consists of two tents and three luxurious chalets, all with ablutions en-suite. It is situated within the Coutada 9 Concession. It has an open dining room under thatch providing stunning views of the Concession and the granite outcrops beyond.
Fly Camps are erected for clients who wish to have a more rustic experience or those who need to hunt the blocks far from the main lodges. The area falls approximately halfway between Chimoio and Tete. The habitats in the area consist of savanna woodland, tambooti forests, seasonal rivers with thick riverine vegetation and spectacular granite outcrops.
The camp consists of wooden cabins with ablutions en-suite. The dining and sitting area overlook one of the perennial rivers and palm savanna beyond. This beautiful area is made up of palm savanna, open grassland and perennial rivers on the edge of the famous Marromeu Buffalo Reserve. It has excellent numbers of buffalo. Together with the plains game available in Nhacainga Conservancy a combination hunt between these two areas is an excellent and diverse safari option.
Due to the size of the two Coutadas hunted we do set up tented fly camps on either the Nhangona or Pompue Rivers. These consist of East African Style Safari tents with all the modern conveniences.
