The Himalayan Tahr has to be one of the most majestic animals to hunt in New Zealand. We use a helicopter to access the remote camp sites within the Southern Alps, the flight is truly spectacular. Most of our hunting is within 1-2 hours walk from camp with a lot of time spent glassing for big mature bulls. This means even if your fitness levels are not quite what they used to be, we will find you your trophy bull.

The best hunting is during their rut May-July and year-round on the East Coast.  With our long-standing local knowledge, we know the very best locations to hunt.  Wilderness Tahr hunts are what we do best.

If you would like a hunt that is a little easier on the body or you are pressed for time then this is a great place to hunt. After our day out on the hill we head back to the homestead for a lovely meal and a good nights rest ready for the next adventure.

Wilderness Chamois Hunt

We specialise in free range Chamois hunting. The Alpine Chamois is a challenging animal to hunt, super alert and extremely agile. We can take you to areas where Chamois are within only 1-2 hours walk from camp so if you have a reasonable level of fitness we can help you find that trophy of a lifetime.

Either helicopter or 4WD vehicle is used to transport us to our hunting areas. In spectacular surroundings you will hunt from a comfortable tent camp.

You can hunt these animals year round, though hunting is best February – July. Chamois rut is May-July.

In spectacular surroundings you will be hunting from a comfortable tent camp. We start off hunting Tahr and once  successful we relocate to Chamois country. Most Tahr and Chamois are within 1-2 hours walk from camp, so with a reasonable level of fitness we can help you obtain your trophies.
