Colorado Upland Bird Hunting Ranch and Wingshooting Outfitters
Quail, Pheasant and Chukar Hunts in Eastern Colorado
You can practically smell the oil and the gun just thinking about it, and then feel the crisp morning air and the excitement in it as the dogs are ready and anxious to go. Warm-ups at the five-stand, the pheasant walk, or the flurry shoot are done with a desire to get out in the field with your dog. Or you can come out the afternoon of your arrival for shooting sports and take your time working up an appetite for dinner. Better still, you can participate in shooting sports any time of year to make sure you’re ready when fall comes and Wing Shooting season begins. Or just for fun! Every instructor at the ranch is NSCA Level 1 certified.
Cast & Blast trips are anglers’ and hunters’ favorites – participating in two of their favorite sports in one day. Fin & Feather Expedition trips take those one step further when you explore the diversity around the main ranch and get inspired by some of our big beautiful neighborhood. Shooting Sports are great fun in their own right at any time of year, but they get a lot of heated action in the fall when bird hunting is in season.

Castle Rock Camp in our nearby Kimball Creek Valley offers glamorous camping – glamping – in safari-style tents. King beds (or two twins), dressers, chairs and western elegance make for an elegantly comfortable stay. Thermostatically controlled heaters take the chill off the night air. The sounds of Kimball Creek will lull you to sleep and will be the first thing you hear in the morning. Fire pits make good gathering spots to watch starry skies. Private, locked marble baths are close by for each of the 8 tents. The 1200-square-foot log Pavilion with a roaring stone fireplace nearby provides a great space for festive group meals, happy hours, gatherings and more.
Our private cabins, each with its own personality and features, are scattered around the ranch, some renovations of original homestead farmhouses. Two larger houses are great for groups or extended families or friends and are closer to the headquarters. Accommodations have kitchens stocked with snacks on the counters, coffeemakers, and drinks in the refrigerator. There are also big TVs, entertainment and games, and private baths.
Fly-fishing Lodge and Outfitters in Western Colorado
Fish for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Cutthroat and Cut-bow.
Fishing is good eight months out of the year, and every season has its own charm and benefits. Early spring fishing brings the annual epic feeding frenzy after what seems like an eternity of winter. As soon as the water temps begin to warm the fish come alive and the party begins. Anglers warm up too and finally pack up the gear they’ve been admiring at home just waiting for these first days out. The guides are experienced and can help you make good choices, pick out the biggest cruisers, use your greatest stealthy moves, and have net always ready. It will be up to you and your guide how to fish each different cascading pool, what approach to take, which pattern to use. All this happens on a ruggedly scenic landscape that’s one of the prettiest places you’ll ever find to plant yourself for a few days. When you’re not scanning for a big rainbow, you can look up and out and remember why it’s often said that trout only live in the most beautiful places on earth.
