Hunting Free-Range Mouflon Ram
Known for its unique beauty and intelligence, the Mouflon is also quite agile, fully alert, gifted with a natural survival instinct, and prone to counter attack its predators ; which could be YOU. Mouflons are nomadic animals, hunting them down is not an easy task. Track them silently and aim well.
Physical Characteristics
The average Armenian Mouflon weighs 100 to 140 lbs. but a trophy animal can weigh as much as 220 lbs. Their shoulder height ranges from 28 to 32 inches. Horn length of a fully-grown animal is around 25 inches. Mouflons sport a red wool coat with a white belly, white saddle, and white on their slender but strong lower legs. The stocky body above those legs gives them the power needed to move among the hills. Their thick, spiral horns curve deeply backwards and make a beautiful wall display.
Native Countries / Habitat
The Armenian Mouflon sheep is a rugged animal that originated in the steep mountain ranges in the Middle East (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Iran). Since the 1980s, Mouflon sheep have been successfully introduced into game ranches in North America, most commonly Texas for the purpose of hunting. Its rare to find pure bred Mouflon on these ranches as most are interbreed with the Corsican sheep.
